Ya i got crashed but not physically but mentally(Oops!! am reusing the same words again and again in my posts). Today i was forced into two situations that i dint actually want to involve. One is going through the course of attending a job fair Organised by niit and for which we sweated out a lot standing in the queue just to have a glimpse of the corporate bluff. Though sneaked my resumes thru some 4 companies, my mind was hovering around on how am i gonna finish my project on time with not even a weeks time to close. So was planning to go home early and get my hands dirty on some coding. But suddenly all my frens had intensions of pulling me to a movie and spend a good time over there. With a failed attempt on convincing them to take me home we propelled towards Satyam cineplex to get a flick of CRASH(the movie that took home 4 Oscars). Now into justification of the blog title, am proceeding with a review of the movie.
The movie started with two black americans discussing racial discrimination meted out to them and on how they hate the whites way of seeing them. I had not realised that am gonna see a wonderfull screenplay of how people act out of their way on delecate moments that had to be dealth with precision, but they dont actually do it. This 2 hr long reel is surely gonna change the attitude of whites towards dark skinned people. Am not goin to spoil ur excitement by scripting the plot of the movie here. It wonderfully handles affection, care, pain, trust and anger in a picture perfect sense and makes it worh watching movie deserving Oscars under its kitty. The whole picture gets u a stong message without letting you relax for a good scene to come. Every frame is aesthetically shot with a message to deploy. If u wish to get a tagline kinda discription of the movie...... The below would do..
" A soul good at heart and intensions may would fail to read a situation and go mad commiting a crime."
" And also a soul with bad intensions and traits can also be too good as a human to handle a moment that u dont trust him to behave good."
CRASH was beautifully plotted by handling all sorts of characters like phyco father and his daughter, a naughty cop who has his hands at the wrong places in dealing women and his ailing father, a detective trying to recover his brother for his mother, a thief who changes course, a couple with a comlaining wife, another couple having a difference of opinion on offbeat relationship of care due to the naughty cop, and last to mention a disturbed c op who couldn't tolerate the naughty cop's fieldplay. All characters change phase from our observation towards the end and baffle us on what we thought them as wrong. Each character starts off different origins and comes to a sangamam at the end so that everyone is directly or indirectly echoed with each other. and to make ends meet i conclude by saying: A screenplay without a story(actually doesn't need one) handled with grit and comes bold to give out the message clearly.
One compromise to be barred: You would notice an excessive and aggressive usage of the f*** word frequently, as to make an impression on the dialog delivary to reach us with a bang. But all that is well said is what we want and its common in trade to use such nuances.
